S.C.U.T.E.

Super Cool Ultra Tiny E-bot was an exercise in python programming and motor control based on sensor input with a goal of maze solving and payload retrieval. SCUTE was based on the AlphaBot2 robot kit but received numerous design additions like a retrieval basket, magnetic servo arm for picking up payloads, and Xbox One controller Bluetooth connectivity to drive freely. SCUTE was able to follow a black tape path quite well and make accurate, pre-programmed decisions based on path endings or ultrasonic sensed obstacle interference. (videos below) Objectively the payload retrieval proved to be the most difficult aspect since the objects were shorter than the ultrasonic sensors and taller than the infrared sensors.
