CNC Engraving

A sort of artistic hobby I adopted while learning CNC milling. I used to play around in SolidWorks a good amount and finding its “sketch picture” feature was a blessing. I would draft up some designs and export the resulting G-Code to our Bridgeport milling machine. For the medium I put a layer of black powder coat on some aluminum and just barely plunged into the finish with a sharp point end mill to show the material. The resulting engraving gave a neat looking contrast between the shininess of the aluminum and the deep black finish. It’s always interesting to see these designs actually come to life and they’ve made for great gifts! Below are some examples of some engravings I made for friends and family.
